Sam Tubb’s daughter (Cheryl Nielsen) is looking for information about his military service.  It is believed that he was a Mace-B launch officer that served at Bitburg AB from 1963 to 1965.  If you can assist, please contact Cheryl at nielsencl@me.com.

Thanks!

Subject: TAC Missileers “Contact Us” Submission – information regarding clarification of Honor Roll notation

Hello. I am interested in learning about missileers, as my father was one. My parents divorced when I was very young and am trying to learn more about the job and him. I was excited to find my father, Sam Tubb listed on your Honor Roll with the notation Bitburg-Launch Officer-1962/65. I have letters from my mother who wrote to her parents from Bitburg (1964-66) and describes his position as being classified. I know he was with the 71st TMS – as the return address on the letters state this. I also know at one time he was at Whitman AFB and am thinking this duty station was before they left for Germany. The clarification I have is what do the dates 1962/65 mean, as I see some Honor Roll deceased have notations listed 1958 to 1961 or 1960-63. Possibly he served in 1962 in one duty station as a missileer and then in Bitburg in 1965 as one? I have enjoyed learning about the Missileers from your website. Thank you for your time.
