I was involved with two other missileers in responding to requests by the Tokyo Times for info for their 50th anniversary reporting of the Cuban Missile Crisis 4 years ago. We TAC Missileers gave the Times our unclassified memories of the event. I mentioned my memoir in that article which Dr. Ota of the Kyoda News agency picked up on. I subsequently have had the USAF give me stamped approval to print everything in my memoir (much to my surprise and bewilderment). Dr. Ota subsequently reported on the false launch order given to the 4 launch sites during the Cuban Missile Crisis. The links follow at the end of this request follows.

In chapter 12, I cover the false launch order on Oki and I also relate the events mentioned in pre-shift briefings about the first half of the launch order to the TM-76’A’ missiles and the 3 TM-76’B’ sites that were sabotaged from the “Road to nowhere” and other acts of sabotage around the world. Several well known reporters want to gather testimony to solidify these events for historical reporting and to gather as much facts and detail as possible from those of us left to chronicle these historical events. The Russians have their side recorded in M. Dunn’s “One Minute to Midnight”. It is time we Pioneers had our story told! This is our only chance to do this. So, let’s do it right.

I would like all missileers who can remember the above events to contact me via email. With their permission I will forward these emails to all reporters concerned (Kyoda News, Newsweek and some others coast to coast) for their assimilation. I want to co-ordinate their efforts to eliminate duplicate verification efforts that can only waste time. Time will be the enemy for this project.

Your co-operation in this effort will be gratefully appreciated by all concerned.

Sincerely
John Bordne
